Hello, my name is Paul Blackmore. I was born to be the forth generation of Blackmore Photographers. But it wasn't untill 4 years ago, when I was reunited with that side of family. I then learned that the career I choose was the same as most of my relatives dating back to the mid 1800's. A 'passion of art that was passed through the blood' and it started like this....
I was 18 years old, lost and confused, I guess I was like any one else my age.
I graduated high school in 2000 and only loved music and Art, but I coundn't make my hand illustrate what my mind could imagine, I shortly realized that my eye was my stength, so I persued photogaphy.
I was a freshmen at the local community college on Cape Cod, where photography wasn't offerd as a class or club.(lame huh?) So I joined the Student Senate becoming one of seven voting members. I convinced the other members that there was interest in a photo class and soon earned their votes to sponser the development of a digital darkroom on our campus. Soon, after the development of the digital Lab, I found myself having short of time for the student senate because of my investment of time as president of a 23 member strong photography club.
I wasn't yet satisfied as an artist, so I joind two other local camera clubs. But, being a person who wants lots of attention, and liking to do very outrageous things to get that attention, I knew I needed a bigger audience. So I started to intern and soon freelnce for the local news paper to have my work published in front of a 65 thousand person audience(now, where I am from on Cape Cod that is 2/3 of the population) and I quickly becamed noticed in a very small community.
I wish the story could go on, and it soon will, but this is where it is now. I am currently 22 years old, I have moved on to enjoy Wedding Photography and Portraits for the last 3 years. I still work for the Cape Cod Times as a freelancer as well as a few magazines and stock agencys. I also free up enough time for having local art exhibitions and gallery showings to allow my creative mind to expand, explore, impress and improve itself over and over
again.
