JUUL
is a Dutch photographer with over thirty years’ experience. A
refreshing feature of his approach to the medium is the quest
for new approaches, whether it concerns startling model
photography or the compilation of photomontages made of parts of
photographs that are covered with leaves, voile cloth or other
materials. Despite these veils he has always retained a strong
bond with his subjects. His photomontages come from his heart,
so that appealing works are created.
His
torn images reflect different emotions which are more easily
grasped in the context of the photomontage. In recent years his
work has focused on images of parklands and castle gardens.
Recently he has finished a project with "subjects thrown up
in the sky". All his black and white fiber-based prints
have transparent retouching dye based on albumen added which
results in photographic images with an aura of the unreal.
Gastronomes
who discriminate between eating and dining will confirm that
high-quality ingredients, an excellent knowledge of the culinary
art and an unremitting drive are prerequisites for the
preparation of haute cuisine dishes. With photography those very
same principles apply, a point which finds ready recognition
among all creative photographers. A proportion of these people
will be susceptible to his atmospheric colour images. The mutual
identification with one anothers photographs then becomes a
"feast of recognition".
