I've pursued making pictures all my life and have been a working artist for over 12 years. In that time I've worked with every medium I could get my hands on, finally setting on Photoshop as the ultimate creative tool not quite 5 years ago.

My arsenal now consists of a digital camera, a computer and not much else. Despite the feelings of many that art created on a computer is not legitimate, I feel that digital tools allow me to fulfill my visions in ways that traditional media could not. Anyone who thinks that the computer does it all is, in my not-so-humble opinion, either completely blind or utterly stupid.

I get a lot of questions about my work, ranging from "what kind of camera do you use" to "will you tell me how you do your pictures?". I'm not about to give away any specific techniques but I'll try to shed a bit of light on me, the artist.

I work exclusively with Photoshop and Painter. I've rid myself completely of film equipment and shoot everything with an Olympus E-20N digital SLR.

Probably the single most asked question is "how do I do it". My working methods range from being fairly simple to quite complex. I don't stick to one or two ways of creating images but tend to use a variety of techniques. I work from both photos and scanned "stuff". About the only thing I can really say about it is this: I use lots of layers. Lots and lots of layers.

With regards to photography, I can certainly respect and appreciate the time honored tradition of working with chemicals but my own approach is better suited to the digital darkroom. I'm able to work more easily and with greater precision, and realize exactly what I envision, with a computer. Because my background is in fine arts and not photography I feel this was a huge advantage when I was learning how to use a camera. When I approach photography I do it as an artist rather than a technician. I believe that rules exist for a reason and that it's essential to know what they are, but breaking those rules is the surest path to creating meaningful images.
