Photographer,
Video Artist, Painter, Musician, Snow Boarder, Activist...
A
consummate professional, yet a fierce individual, Ritta always looks for
the unique aspect of any given moment. He has exhibited his paintings and
photography internationally for years, while avoiding the incestuous
gallery politics that so often warp the motives of aspiring artists.
With his eye on video/film as a medium, Ritta is already creating a stir
in
experimental video circles, with some of his work soon appearing in
national film festivals. Commercially, he is producing promotional videos
for clients from Hudson News Group to the olympic gymnastic group
Antigravity.
Music videos are his next focus, which is not surprising considering
Ritta's life-long involvement in the music industry (he currently plays
bass for Karyn Kuhl,
a heavy melodic rock band that regularly plays CBGB's and the downtown NYC
circuit).
Kurt Ritta is 37, lives in the East Village and has a BFA from the School
of Visual Arts, NYC. He has shown his paintings in Soho with Belenky
Gallery, and in Miami, Berlin, Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, Prague,
Paris, and the Dominican Republic - where he was an artist in Residence at
Parsons School of Design.
His experimental video works have been shown at 4 Walls Exhibition space
and Galapagos in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and the OVM Festival in Bushwick,
Brooklyn in 2001. Ritta's work has been screened at many rave and
multimedia parties in
Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey, and on local public access cable
channels.
