GIB was born in Belgium (1958) and is still living there.
The only artistic relative in his family was more than 100 years born before GIB.
Emille VERHAEREN (1855) was a poet and made a lot of fame during his life.
GIB, or Gilbert VERHAEREN as his full name is written, as a trough relative of Emile had not much of a artistic background.
His artistic interests started very early, when GIB was 12 years old he made pictures whit his father's camera whiteout him knowing it.
From his own pocket money he developed this pictures so the secret could remain.
All of this pictures are gone or lost in time, but we know from witnesses,
the pictures where not images of things we would expect from a 12 year old boy.
At that time he had a great aye for details and very close-ups.
After his marriage (1978) he had two children, a daughter (Ellen, 1983) and a son (Kenny, 1984).
In 1997 his marriage whit Viviane broke up, for 2 years GIB was only interested in African and Asian cultures,
it's in this time he also traveled many time to the east.
