Marc
Blackie was born in London in the year of 1975.
Having received little or no formal artistic training, a camera was
picked up one evening and a few shots taken to test the new purchase.
Forgotten about and developed months later, the pictures impressed both
him and the subject (his partner at the time) and an artistic vocation
was stumbled upon and them pursued.
Described as Dark, and even by one critic as Self Destructive, the
images that make up the Disappointed Virginity series can be seen as a
mirror to the artist and his muse's obsessions. Choosing not to impose
or use other peoples bodies as canvases upon which to project, the
images are often the results of mutual obsessions and can be seen as
snapshots from the realm of erotic imagination.
He has exhibited in London, Barcelona, Ohio and Chicago, been filmed at
work for British Television and regularly performs comission work.
His photography is not restricted exclusivly to the female nude and he
has shot portraiture work for composer Tony Wakeford and his band
"Sol Invictus" and has produced both book covers and author
portraits.
He also performs
with the musical outfit, Sleeping Pictures as well as his own
experiemental sound projects
