      You will not see Hera S. Bell's name on posters/advertisements/billboards or in the mainstream magazines we all know. Her portraits and photos are published in art books and specialized magazines with exclusive distribution in North America and abroad. Yet, Hera S. Bell is one of Canada's most promising talents in the new genre of sensual photography. Published in several countries, her work reveals an extraordinary artistic sense, one that has already won recognition worldwide.

      Hera S. Bell's style is unique. As are her subjects. She shies away from photographing traditional models, classic beauties, and perfectly symmetric faces. Instead, Hera looks for beauty in emotion, a beauty that she is able to capture in women, men and occasionally -during a traditional photo shoot - even in children. "I like working with subjects who reveal something of themselves, who express an emotion. Of course, a large part of my work is devoted to what could be called "quaint photography." Nonetheless, my camera goes wherever I do, because I know that I could come across an interesting subject or place to photograph when I least expect it, and sometimes those are my best photos."

      In additional to working with subjects whom she knows personally, Hera has a broad clientele: couples, men and women of all ages and from all backgrounds whom she captures on film in a sensual context that is unique to each. But don't be mistaken: her work is far from the typical "sexy photography," with lingerie, fake pearls and candles. Hera often works in black and white, with digital retouching and special effects. The outcome is both refined and sublimely eerie. "Everyone is affected by my photos in one way or another. Some love them with a passion, others hate then. I simply share a vision of the beauty I perceive in each person, because I feel that beauty exists in all of us."

      A photo session with Hera S. Bell is a discovery of the sensuality that lies within each of us. Fully dressed, partially clothed or completely nude, those who seek out her talent expose their true essence to the camera. Playing with drapings, filters, lighting and lenses, this photographer shows them all in the most flattering of lights. Many have posed in front of Hera's camera, including Josey Vogel, journalist four Hour magazine (clik to read the article); and Hera welcomed the crew from Eros and Company (Life Channel) in her studio as part of a special television report.

      Hera S. Bell's photos have appeared in countless publications including in works by the prestigious publishing house Artual Sl. (Spain). Several European magazines have also shown interest in her work, which was recently honored with a number of awards. She launched a collection of 36 postcards in October 2000.
