I have been active in photography since 1968 when I shot only black & white and processed and printed film in my own darkroom.  I have a deep love of photography, and I love photographing buildings, nature, machinery, but mostly I love photographing women in bondage.

I have always been influenced by bondage art in comic books and in the "Men's Magazines" of the 60's, and later by the bondage magazines of the 70's most notably House of Milan.  In 1978 I began doing bondage shootings, and had little success finding an outlet for my work.  I did accumulate several strong shootings during the 1980's and early 1990's and then in 1993 I started Archives BBS (which means bulletin board system) on a 3-line 386 using off-the-shelf software.

I instantly had an audience for my work!  I posted an image of a woman in the stocks from the Texas Renaissance Festival of 1979 and I had a flood of inquiries.  I began shooting in February of 1994 specifically for the BBS with the model Diana.  The dial-up BBS began to grow, and in January, 1996, I began converting the service to the web.

I use a conventional camera system, (Nikon and Leica) and retain negatives of all my shootings.  Digital quality just isn't there yet for me, and I think it's years away.  I demand clarity and detail in an image.  Also, if you want to use good lenses, you must use a Leica body, because Leica makes the best optics.

I publish on my website, Archives BBS (www.archw.com), by CD-ROM, and also produce soap-opera style bondage videos (and DVD) which have been popular.  I am very pleased to have this German forum, because many of my subscribers are German and I ship quite a few DVDs to my German friends.

I try to create striking photographs of women in peril, in bondage, that have a direct physical and emotional effect on the viewer, but without the lurid or tawdry elements of pornography.  A beautiful woman deserves a beautiful photograph.   I hope that my photos honor the models, and give a voice to the power of feminine beauty.
