Sorokin Nikolay was born in 1961 in Leningrad. After having served in the ranks of Armed Forces, he studied photography for two years at technical school. Since 1985 he has been devoted himself to professional photography. From July 1985 till March 1986 he had a professional practice according to his specialty (technical and artistic retouching) in the news in pictures for TASS. In the middle of 1986 he began to work as a photographer in the center “Objective”, dealing with studio photography and cooperating with different publishing houses. Since 1993 he has been working as a free artist. 

In 1999 he was affiliated to Artists’ Union. Since 2000 he has been an employee of Photographic Laboratory of Russian Academy of Sciences.Participation in exhibitions
